Dr. Cassandra Smisson Hayes
Dr. Cassandra Smisson Hayes is a licensed psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. She is trained as a generalist in Counseling Psychology and has been providing therapy and psychological assessment services in a variety of settings for nearly 20 years, including private practice, hospitals, inpatient psychiatric facilities, jails, community clinics, schools, and a university career center. Her therapeutic approach is generally cognitive-behavioral in nature. She also draws on other therapeutic approaches based on client issues and needs, including interpersonal, psychodynamic, behavioral, systems and family, and psycho-educational. She also uses her expertise in sport and exercise psychology and fitness to offer a holistic approach to psychological wellness.
As a private practice psychologist, her work involves the assessment of many types of psychological difficulties, including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), substance use disorders, interpersonal and relationship problems, sexual disorders, grief and loss, and adjustment to medical disorders. She also has specialized knowledge and skills in forensic psychology and sport and exercise psychology. She is licensed as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider (LSOTP) in the State of Texas. She has been a guest speaker for various organizations and events, including the Harris County Public Defenders Office and for members of the Houston defense bar.
In addition to her professional work, Dr. Hayes enjoyed working as a part-time group fitness instructor for indoor cycle/spin classes, where she enjoyed using her expertise as a sport and exercise psychologist in a coaching setting. She also enjoyed giving back to the community as a committee member for the Friends of St. Jude-Houston Chapter, a local organization that raises money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the fight against childhood cancer. She also served as President and Vice President of the Houston Clemson Club, the alumni association for local alumni and friends of Clemson University. In her leisure time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, child, and dogs. She is a sports enthusiast and a Clemson athletics fanatic - GO TIGERS! She loves travel and exploring Houston's expansive restaurant scene.
Ms. Shannon Khan
Shannon Khan is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Psychological Associate. She obtained her graduate degree from Houston Baptist University and has worked in a private clinical setting for over 15 years. She is notably experienced in providing clinical, psychosocial, and psychoeducational evaluation services pertaining to abuse/trauma, ADHD, anger management, disruptive behavior disorders, learning disabilities, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, cultural trends in psychology, and family systems dynamics. She is also knowledgeable and skilled in immigration (U visa and emotional hardship), fitness for duty (employment-related), pre- and post-adoption, pre- and post-family reunification, and pre- and post-bariatric evaluations. She has provided psychological services to individuals, families, and groups, specializing in trauma work and holistic wellness. She has also contracted with the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) and Department of Family and Protective Services in the State of Texas for many years. She has worked extensively in social services and has over a decade of experience providing EAP services, consultation, short-term therapy, and critical incident stress management.
